Value Delivered

Forest Electric New Jersey provided electrical design, construction, and installation services for Merck’s new 220,000-square-foot Biologics Development Center.

We worked closely with the general contractor and architect from the onset of the project as part of the integrated project delivery process, developing designs for electrical infrastructure, substations development, and branch level design.

Additionally, we also provided a number of other practical, value-added solutions including offsite prefabrication, full-service BIM modeling solutions, engineering, and more to help ensure any design issues or construction challenges were quickly resolved.

Client Objectives

Merck wanted to construct a new, state-of-the-art facility for product development. The new facility featured a number of unique environments, including good manufacturing practice (GMP) and non-GMP pilot plant spaces, as well as laboratory areas to accommodate analytical chemistry, biologics testing, mass spectrometry, protype research and development, and other pharmaceutical science applications.

Solutions

Our scope of work included:

  • BIM modeling and design
  • Project design and budget development
  • Continuous estimating for design development
  • Coordination of electrical activities as part of Takt planning
